We’re building a team of Digital Champions

Our group, listed below, is made up of local residents who with support from our Partners will learn how to co-design and plan the development of local area network to connect members of the Gellideg community and test the feasibility of providing affordable internet connectivity.

Nicholas Giles
I am Digital Inclusion Officer at Merthyr Valleys Homes
and leading a team of residents, local social enterprises, MVH staff and key public sector stakeholders, who have come together to co-design a plan for community led digital infrastructure development in the area.

Ricky Williams
Working with the Gellideg Foundation, a community group that works to ensure that every resident in the area has the opportunity to realise their full potential thus helping young people, the community and local business to prosper-retaining created wealth in the community.

Thomas Owen
A local Resident That has just graduated with a degree in Information Systems. Thomas will be one of the go to people on the ground and along with Ian will be one technical experts that will be able to provide advice to the residents.

Ian Wright
A local resident and keen technology enthusiast, Ian will be working with the partners to configure the wired and wireless infrastructure across the Gellideg Estate. He will also be considering how to ensure all the resident have the relevant hardware to harness the full potential of the new connectivity.

Natalie Ryan
Tech Guru and IT Technician at Merthyr Valley Homes (MVH), Natalie is on hand to support the local Residents throughout the build and maintenance of the Network. Natalie is also overseeing providing shared access to the internet via MVH’s own connection during our prototype phase.
